Lucy Bowman (she/her) is a dancer, graphic designer, and artist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Originally from Northern Virginia, she completed her degree in Graphic Design and Dance at the University of Minnesota, where she had the privilege of performing under notable artists including Cynthia Oliver, Carlo Antonio Villanueva, Jordan Demetrius Lloyd, and jess pretty. To describe her values as an artist, she points to the Arts and Crafts Movement of the early 20th century—its emphasis on craftsmanship, community, and the integration of art into everyday life. She finds it especially important today to celebrate handicraft, resistance to industrial uniformity, and the insistence that everyday objects and interactions can—and should—be beautiful. To insist on the inherent value of art beyond function or profit resonates with her belief that the arts must be accessible, purposeful, and rooted in care.

She sees strong parallels between design and dance, in which process, collaboration, and storytelling have the unique ability to counter commodification and disconnection. How can this relationship create spaces of meaning, resistance, and restoration in a digital age? An environmentalist before all, she is deeply inspired by the natural world and holds special fondness for the Oregon coast and the Blue Ridge Mountains of her home state.
